We pride ourselves on being a tech savvy firm. You’ll be familiar with our work with the Vermont Technology Alliance, our work for Real Term Energy (a smart city app developer in Montreal) and our work for Superior Technical Ceramics (a custom ceramics manufacturer with deep roots in the aerospace and defense industries). Each has required us to understand various aspects of technology, and it’s always a pleasure to learn a new industry.
Having said that 89North is going to stretch us further than we’ve ever been stretched before. The firm is an off-shoot of Chroma technologies, one of the fastest growing companies in Vermont. Chroma sells optical filters and other solutions for the scientific, biomedical and photonics communities, while 89North is an off shoot that concentrates on the fluorescence microscopy market. Broadly speaking, you can think of electron microscopy as looking at dead/inert materials, while fluorescence microscopy is centered around looking at live biological materials, often using various forms of illumination, dyes and filters.
We’re starting our normal process of inquiry, kicking off with internal and external interviews, usually in concert with our “Four Walls Exercise” where we dress the walls with all of the existing marketing materials. We’re excited to bone up on the latest scientific processes in this area. See? All of that high school biology and science paid off after all.
